so has anyone driven the 2.0T and TTS back to back?

Drove both, but months apart . . .
My most recent road test (if you can generously call it that) was of a Meteor Gray TTS. Unfortunately, it was during a winter rain, with summer performance tires. I felt fortunate that the dealer let me drive the car, and wasn't about to flog a near-$50,000 TT under those circumstances. As a result, my impressions are a bit tentative and my experience of the car certainly incomplete. Comparing it to the '09 2.0q I had drive earlier in the fall, I would say that the TTS isn't a quantum leap over the 2.0 in power, but rather adds a sharper edge to the 2.0's performance. Again, conditions prevented me from getting a true sense of the S's power delivery. There's definitely some turbo lag initially (the road tests that have reported this have been correct), and the throttle tip-in felt a little slow to me (kind of reminded me of VW's supercharged Corrado, actually). But once that turbo spools up (and it does so quickly), wow. If you're addicted to turbo rush, this car is your fix. It's not a huge leap from what I recall of the "regular strength" TT (which feels plenty fast), just dials it up a few notches.
I really wasn't able to evaluate handling very thoroughly, or assess Haldex response times, etc. I'll leave that to the pros and the guys on the forum who actually own the cars. I will say that the lowered suspension on the S (stock 18" wheels, by the way), even in Normal mode, felt a little harsh. But I was driving on Wisconsin roads that have already been pretty battered by winter weather. Driving reasonably cautiously, I still bottomed out the suspension a couple of times on unseen potholes. My recollection is that I was very impressed with the road feel of the 2.0q, which also had Mag Ride.
While I would still prefer a manual tranny, I felt that the S tronic was a good match with the engine in the TTS. In auto mode, the exhaust makes the most wonderful "wuffle" with every upshift. Could listen to that all day long. The exhaust does have more presence than in the 2.0q. It's a raspy, throatier sound, but still not as melodious as the 3.2.
Well, I could go on but won't. A lot better information is probably available from those lucky few who have taken delivery of their Ss. Bottom line in my opinion, it takes everything that's great about the 2.0q and makes it sharper. Maybe that's what the "S" stands for.
