Default No it just gets worse the longer you avoid a ding.

Default look for "end" parking spots

park at the end of a row and then you only have to worry about one side

Default Park in the next county ...

at least that's what my wife says I do with all my cars - probably why they have virtually no door dings.

Watch the wind direction and make sure the cars next to you are parked with nose pointing to the wind.

Many times, dings happen when door is caught by strong wind and caused it to swing wide. I was ding free for 3 years with my last Saab without parking at the far corner of the lot.

Of course, its hard to avoid those ignorants who just don't care.

Default Just drive it!

There's no point worrying about it, because that's not going to stop it happening: the mini van rule still applies. However far from where you need to be you park, and however far you are from any other vehicle a mini van full of kids will part as close to you as it can. In a parking garage regardless of where you park someone in a Toyota Highlander will park 3" from your mirror.

The car can always be fixed but you can regain days that you should have enjoyed driving but spent them worrying instead...

Let's face it, someone could steal it tomorrow, so live for today and don't worry about it.
