Default tire subst.

Aside from about a 6% difference in odometer/speedometer reading, would a 225-40-18 tire perform well as a substitute for a stock 225-50-18?

In the US, the stock 17" tire on a TT was 225-50. The stock 18" tire was 245-40. Yeah 225-40-18 will work but there will be slightly less traction for a narrower tire unless you are talking snow tires.
