winter rim and tire size recommended for my car
I have a 2012 Audi TT RS. My current tires are 255/35/19. I asked the local dealership about their winter package and they said they only have a 19" package and not an 18"....stating that they don't think 18" rims/tires will fit over the large brake calipers. I have seen threads about people with 18" rims on their TT RS's

Tire Rack has all that information in an easy-to-understand format including smaller wheel sizes.

The issue I have with TireRack is that for their winter tire packages, they list rims that will not work with my car...i.e. the offset's are wrong. The offset with my OEM is 52mm. They are listing rims from 34-38mm. That is why I was hoping to get the info from someone that has winter rims and tires, so that I can be 100% sure before ordering anything.

The offset is likely to be different.

I live in Canada and have used Tirerack before. Issue is that friends have experienced problems when rims/tires do not fit...here is an excerpt from their warranty/guarantee on their website...they do not warranty the fit "Other than applicable manufacturers' warranties, there are no warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose"

That said, I only wear 19's and just leave mine in the garage on snow days. In AR, we have zero snow days on some winters...

Based on the US Spec model we inspected, there are a handful of 18" wheels we know to work. We are using a lower offset as our wheels are 8" wide for reference. If your dealer can confirm that your vehicle is built to US Spec, then we are confident of fitment.

The wheel width combined with the offset dictates the final wheel position. I still have the stock 9"x19" wheels on my TTS, and I've decided to stay with them for now. But I had done some window shopping and found that most of the wheels were either 8.5" or 9.5" wide. To get the same wheel position the offset needs to change. This calculator was helpful to me.
