Default 2016 TTS Speaker Upgrade

I have the Audi Sound System (***) with 9 speakers and 155W 5 channel amp. I recently installed a plug and play Focal speaker upgrade that has dramatically improved mid-bass response.

Simple "Plug & Play" ... after your extensive and careful removal/replacement of trim, door cards, etc. Well done!!

I've not heard of Focal (but then not much of an audiophile these days). Just curious, why them over some of the more commonly cited brands?

Focal is a well known brand in the audiophile world for their speakers and headphones.

Thanks. It was actually easier than you would imagine. The right tools is the key. I bought all the right ones and then didn’t use them Focal speakers are known for reproduction of voice and strings. They are highly efficient and don’t require a lot of power to drive them. The stock *** system was actually not bad, but I wanted to hear more of my music. I can add an aftermarket amp later if I want to go louder. If ever you remove the rear interior panels, you will see the cavernous space and ask yourself, “Why did Audi not build a sub enclosure on each side?” Who knows that may be a future project...

Exactly. They provide plug and play kits for VW, BMW and others. I found a UK company that offers Plug and Play kits for Audi. Skipton Car Radio. They can provide tons of options, Vibe, MTX, Audio Frog, MAC, Focal and on and on... With my Focals, I can play any song full volume with no distortion and I still need to deactivate the Soundacktor.

Oh, and Focal’s ICU line includes inline filters so no crossover is required...

Glad to see an audiophile on board here.
I have the Bang and Olufsen system in my '16. It really is pretty bad. My '11TTS with Bose had better bass.
If I do get a '20 or '21, I will try to get the basic Audi system and gut it. I haven't heard Focal, but will try to get some more info.

Let me know if you need help with anything? The panels are pretty easy to get off and the guys at Skipton Car Radio in the UK make any install plug and play. Cheers! The more I think about it, the more I want to build 2 custom bass enclosures in the massive rear panel cavities. For now It may add a powered sub in the trunk.

Correction: Focal’s ISU line...
Specifically the ISU 165
  • Al/Mg inverted dome tweeter
  • (integrated) 6dB/oct crossover
  • Max Power 140W
  • Nominal Power 70W RMS
  • sensitivity 93 dB

I'm planning on taking my 8in JL W7 sub and JL amp from my CR-V into my 2016 TT. What are the door size speakers? I have a full JL Audio set up in my CR-V. I was thinking of moving it all into the TT but wasn sure of the sizes
