ALP Laser Jammer Installed?
#2
Since no one ever replied, Im guessing not many have installed these? Did you get your installed? Im looking to install the new Escort KW5 in my new A5, which is wireless to the detector in the car, but have to figure out how to mount the signal box under the hood. Id like to see how you ran your wires in your set up since I have been unable to find any info on how to install these in a tight Audi engine compartment. Thanks!

Didn’t see this but yes I’ve installed ALP with the newer TX heads and Netradar DSP. I did the install myself with a little help to run the wiring where I cant reach (wheelchair). I’ll have to take some more pictures later, maybe tomorrow night. I thought I posted a thread in here on this already but it may have been on Audizine...
Two RX heads with the TX dead centre top.
And the rear with the two RX heads beside the tails and the TX under the license plate.

Glad I came upon this thread. Thinking of some ALPs for my 2018 S5 Sportback. Does anyone know with some degree of certainty if the bumper to bumper factory warranty is at risk by doing this kind of install? I've read different things but trending towards "no risk" but nothing that spelled this type of electronic gadget. Thanks.

Maybe with a very uneducated service advisor but the only connection to the car is the battery for the power source... They may choose to not honour the battery warranty but I just can't see it as an issue.

Commonly, you should be able to find a grommet on the drivers side that will come out just under the steering column. You may have one with all the other electronics (under hood fuse block) or if lucky one that has nothing, either way you'll need to punch a hole through one and then use a zip tie or silicone to close it off when your done. Another tip is to make sure all the connectors to the front bumper are the same length from the unit (mines under the drivers seat), and make sure they are easy to get to. I made my connectors just under the the drivers headlight and coil all the extra cable under the air box etc. I say to keep all these connectors easy as some day you are going to want to remove the front bumper and it becomes a real PITA trying to find the connectors when you're also trying to hold up the bumper facade... Don't ask me how I learned that. It's also nicer under the seat (or where ever you place the unit) if you don't have all that extra wiring coiled up. Going through the rear is pretty easy there for the most part.
