Another Winter Wheel Question - OEM 18's on TTS
With the whispers of "Winter is Coming" in my head. I'm trying to prepare in advance for the white stuff here in the snowbelt of Ohio. I've got a TTS w/ Black Optics and the 20's wrapped in Summer Tires. Obviously this is a no go for Winter and I'd rather not run 20's during the winter months, so a complete wheel swap is in my future.
Just wanted to confirm if a set of OEM 18"rims from a standard TT will fit the TTS? Based on my research, it looks like it should (I believe the base wheel size for the euro-spec TTS is the 18's from our US-spec TT). Does anyone run this setup?
Hoping this is fine as I pulled the trigger on a great deal for a set of 18's including the OEM All Season tires. Was thinking about seeing how well the All-Season's work before I swap them out for a set of Winter only.
Thanks for any thoughts/advice!

Should be fine, you can actually get 17" that will fit.
The base TTS has 18" in Germany,

For my "not summer" wheels, I went with Hartmann HRS6-091-MA:M's. in 19" and mounted Continental Extremecontact DWS's ("Dry/Wet/Snow") 245/35-19
(...Not true snow tires, but high quality All Season tires, and I have other cars for trips to the mountain in the winter. I did drive a couple of times in snow back in January, and they worked well.)
Size Bolt Pattern ET Center Bore Stock Level Additional Information Price
19x8.50 5x112 +47 66.56 In Stock Matte Anthracite : Machined Face $310.00
They work great on the TTS, and my dealer says they will fit on my (on order) TTRS.

Previously “CALE262”
I've got my winter kit sorted out.
Tires- Pirelli Sottozero serie II in 255/35R19
Wheels- Neuspeed RSe102 in 19x9ET40 (required a 5mm custom spacer to clear the front brakes)

I went with a hard-to-find Audi design...18" on Micheline Xice3. Really love these tires, and the wear rating is just silly for winter tires. I can't recommend these highly enough.

Caution indeed. The TTS front calipers are quite large and many TT 18" rims (spokes) will not clear same.
I got lucky in that my hand me down 18x8.5 ET34 Rial DH with 245x40 Michelin Alpin snow tires cleared fine. In fact a bit better spoke clearance than my OEM 19x9 ET52 which barely clear.

... I would caution buying 18's without either knowing for sure (ie. OEM that the dealer says will work) or trying them first. I went from 20's to 18's but went for a fitting before selecting my winter wheels. I'm very pleased with what I bought but be warned there were a few 18" wheels did not clear the calipers....

I love the fact that all you guys have such great wheels that you run for winter. They all look, as good, or even better to me than the OEM ones.
Also thanks everyone for the tire listings. Since my OEM tires are for the 20's and I'm going -2, would you recommend going with 245/45R18 tires to try and match my stock diameter? Just seems like that would be a lot of blackwall.
I'm going to see how well the OEM All Seasons work (Conti ProContact TX), but if they're crap...I want to spec out what I'll need.

I use stock 18" TT wheels during the winter. My salesman recommended them after checking with the service guys. No clearance problems. Tires are 245/40-18.
