Best wheel size for MK3 TT?
 

My TTRS currently has the 20x9ET53 wheel and am currently looking to purchase new wheels. I think I am going to stay with 20's and am thinking 20x9x45, I get mixed signals though as some retailers say to go with 20x9ET35 but I think that will stich out to far?

20x9ET45 or 20x9ET35

Which wheel size is ideal for our MK3?

I thought the factory wheel was ET52, not ET53?

Factory should be 9Jx20 ET52

I just put on 20x9 ET40 with 255/30 summer tires. Front is flush, rear has about 5mm left to edge of fender. I'm on stock height.

ET35 will be ok in back but will poke in front, may have to go with 245/30 rubber to avoid rubbing. I'd say go with ET45 and use spacer if you want more flush look.

This subject makes my head hurt as I am trying to determine the best offset for 20x9.5" wheels. The rear track of this car is 3/4" narrower than the front so if you go for a square wheel setup you will at least need spacers in the rear to have things look flush or wider in the rear if that's the look you like. If you lower the car you need to be that much more sure on the offset if you don't want the setup to run.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for! It's hard in my area to figure this out on a car that you dont see much around here and most wheel shops dont stock a whole bunch of wheels so when you order them you are kind of married to your choice or stuck paying a "Restocking fee".

I'll be going to a 19 for winters as this car will be driven all year round, I would even go as far as 18's if it weren't for clearance issues. I think I'll just acquire a OEM set of 19's from the dealership, I really dont want to be super flush for winter wheels as they use a lot of heavy gravel around here in the winter which beats the hell out of your paint...The reason I am getting the whole car wrapped and coated which is happening right now today. A full polish and wrap, hoping to get it back tomorrow night but I wont be rushing them, if it takes an extras day I dont mind paying the overtime for a proper job.

That looks so good, those CH-R's were on my short list...I'm just not too sure on the rim guard, I know you can take them off but you shouldn't have to.

I'm so on the fence with 19 vs 20, the car came with the 20's and the ride is so much nicer than I was expecting.
