Default Hill hold/assist

I am finding the user manual a little difficult to understand. If you stopped on a hill, it says you put on the E-brake and when you step on the gas the E-brake releases automatically. This doesn't happen in my case.

Any suggestions?

The hill start assist does not require the driver to set the parking brake; that happens automatically when on a slope (the indicator in the switch does not illuminate). This prevents any rolling when moving your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

While stopped with the engine running and not in neutral, you may set the parking brake to avoid having to hold the brake pedal down, thereby avoiding the risk of creeping forward (not a good thing to do to a DSG). The parking brake releases when you press the accelerator (not in neutral, door closed, seat belt on).

Thanks Chuck for your suggestions. I did tried to put it in drive with the e-brakes on. When I stepped on the gas pedal, nothing happens and the e-brake did not release.

Door was shut and seat belt on?

I haven't tried shifting from N to D with the parking brake already on. What does work is setting the parking brake while in D (or S) and pushing on the brake pedal, then releasing the brake pedal, then pressing the accelerator - the typical sequence when at a stop light.

The feature works, you'll notice it if you are at a light or stop sign on a steep incline. Instead of rolling back it will hold until you get on the gas.
