Default Leather Cracking, Shiny

Car’s not that old but already showing leather wear: Seat side bolsters showing creases, steering wheel getting shiny from skin oil. Anybody on how to prolong leather life?

I've used Zaino 'leather in a bottle' since day one and I believe it's helped. Griot's Garage leather 3-in-1 is a good product as well. Mother's too.

I've used Connolly Hide Food for over 30 years on my leather seats in my convertibles here in the desert. It is the recommended leather care product by Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Jaguar. I apply it 4 times a year.

My 2017 is also doing that on the side bolsters.
Apparently nobody makes leather dye for it, and Audi would just replace the seat covers for far too much money.
Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Seat Doctors told me they could make a dye, but I would have to send in a sample of the leather. I cant find any extra to cut off to send.
Again, I called Audi and they refuse to send me a color sample. You buy a $60K car and then cant get seat dye or wheel paint for it.
Ridiculous.

Looking at your location, I guess the sun is causing your leather to dry. In that case, once you restore it to your satisfaction, perhaps you should treat it regularly with a leather conditioner to keep it soft and supple.

For the steering wheel, I recently picked up an RS and it has the alacantara on the sides. Therefore, given what the screen of every cell phone looks like, I am wearing driving gloves always to keep the material clean and new.

Good call Fun101. Alcantara as you know provides excellent grip but can be troublesome to clean. An ounce of prevention ....
