Default MirrorTap Power Cords

There has been a few Radar Detector Threads, but to my knowledge no confirmed success with this product.
Has anyone used this in their Mk3?

I have seen some issues experienced with other cars.

I installed it in my 8v A3, and it works perfect.

Yes I have used it on my MK3 with my Valintine one radar with blend mount and works great.

Thanks guys, that's helpful.
If anyone else has done this, or does it in the future please chime in.

Could you please elaborate on how the wiretap was wired into your mirror?

The last one I had (for a 370Z) tapped into the back of the mirror. I see yours has a hole in the side of the mirror.

I'm picking my car up tomorrow, so I'm kind of flying blind on this.

Also, what Blendmount model did you order?

Thanks in advance!

Looks great, thanks for sharing. I too would love some more details, just picked up my TTS on Monday and know I'm going to need a solution really soon (almost done with break in).

Below is a summary of the order for the blend mount and wire harness. The wires for the mirror is located in the housing that is attached to the windshield. It is easy to remove by pulling down at the top. I drilled a small hole and fed the wire thru and connected to the wire harness. It works great and looks built it.

Congrats on the new car. You will enjoy driving it everyday. Let me know if you have more questions.

I would as well. I just picked up a new TT RS and that is really clean looking!

I wish it were possible to do that with dashcams. I'm guessing the mirror tap doesn't draw enough power to drive one. But now I've got a USB power cord running across the top of my windshield down the A-pillar and under the carpet to reach the cigarette lighter port. Very annoying.
