Default Nano Grey Touch Up Paint

Hello All,

I have a new to me 2016 TTS in Nano Grey. I just bought a touch up pen from the local Audi dealership and the paint match is TERRIBLE.

Has anyone had any luck with a good touch up paint match for Nano Grey? If so, where from?

Thanks,
Chris

Most of the TU from the dealer is pretty much a joke, IMHO.

This is the BEST source for touch-up paint of any color for any car.
Automotive Touchup

They have several options for applying it, and it is mixed custom per your car, and is always a PERFECT match.
I've used it on at least 8 different cars dating back to 1995, and they have always been an exact match!

Give them a try...

I second this. Great paint.

Read the first post again.

Just my opinion...
The color usually doesn't match all that well with what's on the car...
The applicator is a joke...
They often sit in the dealers inventory for a long time before you buy it, so the paint tends to thicken, and is the wrong consistency for a good TU job...

Try Automotive Touchup at the link above, you will be very pleased, based on many years of trying to find the perfect TU tools.

I think your challenge there may have a lot to do with the color. These "fancy" colors like Nano Grey, the Sepang Blue Pearl on mine, or like the Pearl White on my last car, involve multiple coats to build the final appearance. There's usually primer, base color, tint or pearl coat, then clear coat. It's hard to replicate with a single-coat paint. I bought three different brands of touch-up for my pearl white Z, and they all came with a similar warning in the box: "We have attempted to match the overall appearance of your multi-coat paint in this product. It may not perfectly match the original paint in all lighting and conditions..."

Yeah, you can't duplicate some of these multi-stage paints with a touch up paint bottle/stick.

Last post from me on this topic, I promise.

For the metal flake or candy coat colors, the paint from ATU will come as three separate items, groundcoat, midcoat and a clearcoat.
Just like it was applied at the factory... so you will have the same depth and color matching.
Our 2016 SQ5 (Glacier White Metallic) needed a couple of spots touched up, and when I used their products you couldn't even see the spots.

OK, enough from me, just wanted to let you know how great their products are.

I purchased the Nano Gray from Automotive Touchup and it is a perfect match. I got the paint in what is like a nail polish bottle. I use a different smaller/finer paintbrush for small chips and it works great.

I’ve used Dr. Colorchip successfully on light road rash but thanks to the advice here i’m going with ATU to address the dealer induced deep scratch in my passenger side skirt (from recent seat delamination TSB).
