Default new tires...

my 19" potenza summer tires were on the verge of being worn out when i got a screw right on the edge.. not fixable. the only tire shop nearby said the best option they could give me today (which i need to get back my car today) is michelin Pilot Plus A/S 3+. They are about $250 a piece. im not sure if this is the tire i would have arrived at if i had the luxury of time but does anyone have any experience or opinions on this tire?

im not in an area that snows or ices fyi.

Decent tire, but its an all seasons vs your OEM summer rubber so you are going to loose some of the handling and traction of the tire, but you will gain tread life. I have heard some noise complaints on the A/S 3, the + model they reformulated the tread compound for better snow traction, which does not apply to you. That being said, as all seasons go they are highly rated. In my opinion I don't like A/S on a sports car, they excel at nothing and compromise on a lot.

Since you are not in area that snows or ices I would stick with summer tires. Most tire dealers have local distribution network and can get anything in 24 hours or less form a distribution center. ALSO, Michelin has a $70 rebate right now on a set of 4

My recommendation:
Michelin Pilot Sport 4s (new version of the PSS)
Continental Extreme Contact Sport (new/improved version of the Conti DW which was a great tire in the rain. I have run a set of DWs and they were very good)
Michelin PSS (owned 2 sets, great tires)

thanks for feedback. i guess these will have to do for a while.. i dont feel like shelling out more money immediately for another set of tires. however i agree i'd typically prefer summer tires that maximize performance.

Excellent tire. Michelin has been my go-to for years and the Pilot Plus is as good as you can get in an A/S imho.

Was considering the same tire. Costco has them for about $200/each. Huey52, what are you running on your TTS?

Still OEM Summer 19's at present, but my Winters (18's) are Michelin and OEM will be replaced with Michelin when the time comes.

OP may not have "needed" Ultra High Performance All Season tires, but the ones he got are amongst the best at least:

Yes, the A/S 3 tire (not sure about the + version that others mention being better in snow) is quite good, beating some summer tires in performance, according to Consumer Reports. I would also agree with another comment that they are somewhat loud. I can't report on longevity, but they do seem to have a short tread block leading to better handling. Snow performance on the non-plus isn't good, and rain performance is average. So it's definitely slanted to warmer and drier conditions, despite its all season rating.
