A Pillar Removal
#2
Ok I recently put in a BlackVue DR750S 2 channel in my TT RS. Removed the A Pillar and all the trunk trim. The A pillar has a bolt behind the airbag badge, Torx 30 bolt I think. There are a couple of spring clips that just need popping off. You may also need to remove the side of the dash and the piece just below the A pillar, between the door and dash, to get it out, sorry can't remember exactly. I disconnected the battery to make sure no issues with the airbags. I also wore latex gloves so my hands wouldn't leave sweat and oil prints on any trim panels. These can show up later. I took the whole day over it and even ran the rear camera wire through the conduit from the body to the trunk (third image left hand side). I also used a set of trim removal tools. Any questions I will do my best to help!!

Thanks man. What fuses did you end up tapping into? My kit needs one fuse that turns on when the ignition is on... a fuse that permanently has power and then a ground.

I did ask and Audi tech and he said any fuse should be fine as dash cams don't draw much current. I used two small fuse taps, so it would be easy to remove later and I don't like modding existing wiring if I don't have to.I used a circuit testing tool, screw driver with a wire and light, to find one fuse that was permanent live and the other ignition switched. I'll pop out to the car in a minute and take a pic. BTW the dash side panel is a good place to store excess wire as there is quite a bit of room behind it. I used a power magic pro with mine and stuck it next to the OBD 2 port, again I'll send a picture later.

Thanks man... you were a big help! I ended up getting my dashcam installed and the only wire you can see is going from the dashcam to the top of the windshield... everything else got tucked away.
I used the cigarette lighter fuse for the switched power source... the lumbar fuse as the constant power source... and the big bolt just outside the dashboard but closer to the door sill for the ground.

Sorry I didn't see that 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I just asked because it wasn't clear to me in the picture with the fuses. Normally in other setups I've seen I see the ground point connected near the fuses.
