Default Recalls?

I am in the process of buying a 2016 Audi TT Quattro (28000 km) have there been recalls or problems with this car.

Hey tormtl, I picked up my 2015 S line Quattro a couple of years ago now with 10,000kms on it. I don't think there have been any major recalls (apart from the airbag) but the things to watch out for are the broken seat trim issues (I'm pretty certain that's mentioned on this forum), the water pump is prone to fail (known issue) and I've got a slight leak on my transmission (apparently affects the earlier build TT's). Might be worth checking the transmission for any leaks, the undertray just needs to be removed, that can be real expensive to fix if you have no warranty. You can ask the dealer to inspect it and take photos just to prove its ok.

The seat trim on the 2016 is definitely an issue. If the trim on that car has not been done then you definitely want that to "fail" and get fixed under warranty. There is a giant thread on the matter. It sounds like a little thing but that issue evolved into a major repair including removing the seat and replacing the air bag. I imagine that would be pretty costly outside of warranty. I feel that should have been a recall issue. Instead some of us had to get each trim repaired as they failed (that's 4 of them) before they would initiate the repair. For me that was more than 4 service visits.

I feel the glass is quite prone to cracks and chips but I do a lot of highway driving.

Otherwise, mine has been very reliable.

I have a 2016 TTS. I received a recall letter today about the driver airbag potentially exploding in a collision with metal fragments that can be ejected causing injury. Dealers will be taking them in for free correction from March 29.

Anybody link me to the post about the seat trim issue? Searched but didn’t find it. Both my seats have the clips holding the side trim on broken off from pulling the seats forward with the strap for rear seat entry. I assume it’s that?

Just [finally] got the driver's side Takata airbag recall in the mail, #69S8. But that's common across many brands. "Certain 2016-2017 TT Coupe & Roadster." Parts available commencing in April.

I've had the seat trim replaced on both sides now myself. No issues since.
