Default Strange - seeing a lot of used 2018 TTRS for sale

Cars.com lists 10 for sale and I'm sure there must be more on other web sites. Seems strange to have so many for a car that is about 6 months old. Maybe folks who bought them speculating high demand and quick resale above MSRP only to find there are plenty available?

Maybe they expected the TTRS to be more of a cruiser like the Miata (MX-5) and then realize it really is a true high performance sports car and too much to for them?

When you spend that much money and have that much car, you really need to intend to drive the car as it was designed for and enjoy it. No point in only being able to take a TTRS into bumper to bumper traffic most days.

Doesn't sound like a lot to me either. I searched Edmunds.com and didn't find many at all. Also it is a small car. Some people go for it because it's so fast not realizing how small it is. Perfect for me but I know when I bought my first 2011 TTS, the local BMW store had a used for with 1000 miles on it. Guy was too big for the car and only realized it after he bought it....expensive mistake I would think.

Default It is a lot compared to the total sold

of a few hundred at best. I troll cars.com all the time and have never seen that many new model year cars offered for sale as used so soon. For example, cars.com shows only 1 used 2018 base TT for sale.

Cargurus only shows 2 within a couple hundred miles of me and Autotrader shows none. They certainly don't seem to be common in the Southeast.

I'm also in the camp that thinks a mere ten cars doesn't seem sufficient enough to constitute a trend.

10 could be a high number, or a low number. Depends on how many ttrs’s were allocated to the US....

Default Again, it's all relative

Assuming TTRS availability similar to that of the Mk 2 TTRS of several hundred a year in the US, that means 2018 TTRS sales represent about 10%-15% of the total TT sales volume in the US. So a nationwide search on cars.com showed me 10 used 2018 TTRS for sale and only 1 used 2018 base TT, I consider the number of used TTRS worthy of note because the proportion is exactly opposite what you would expect from relative sales volume of the 2 models. The ads don't state what the MSRP was when new for those cars but the asking prices look to be about the same, if not higher. Don't know why anyone would pay MSRP for a used TTRS when there are plenty of new TTRS sitting on lots across the US.
