TT to be discontinued...

The iconic Audi TT will be discontinued in the near future...according to many reports. Sad. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/23/...-discontinued/

AND the R8.
They will be missed by a few.
Will it become a collectors car?

I heard that too, really disappointed but not surprised, I just bought a 2016 TT, 2 months ago and I love it, Its such a unique car that is fun to drive and gorgeous to look at. I won't be interested in an electric crossover TT or 5dr Coupe either.

Would not be surprised to see US sales end sooner. TT sales in the US the past 18 months have been absolutely terrible. US dealers sell an average of 1 TT every 2 months. Personally, I find that statistic very attractive as I love owning a rare car. The Mk 3, except for the TTRS, failed to deliver the sports car experience most enthusiasts crave (as evidenced by the sales figures and mediocre pro reviews). Audi has had two chances in the Mk 2 and Mk 3 re-designs to make the TT a serious sports car and lose the hairdresser's car image and failed both times, again except for the Mk 2 TTRS which got rave reviews as a great car for the $. Each revision has resulted in markedly lower sales as compared to the previous version. The base TT and TTS have been left in the dust by BMW relative to performance for the $. You can get an M240 which is on most car magazine's 10 Best List and which will wipe up a TTS on the track (according to Car and Driver Lightning Lap tests) for about the same price as a base TT (BMW gives far better discounts than Audi). The problem for me is that they look like every other BMW which is why I'm shopping for a CPO Mk 3 roadster.
Supposedly, the TT will be replaced by an electric version which is worthless for folks like me who frequently take their cars on long distance drives. I'm never going to buy a car that can't go at least 300 miles at 80+ mph without a charge which is what I do on a regular basis in my TT between fill-ups on the road.

Absolutely agree. This is one of my main reason to buy TTRS over BMW M2.

I have to disagree, yes I am in the minority if using your "facts". The Mk3 TTS has had great reviews.( just check out Youtube)..and for many people having 292 HP is great as a daily driver. For the track, not so much.

Great design and appointments and power( for a non track sports car experience) I have loved my TTS from the moment I first drove it, sad to see them go out of production.

I had owned a MK2 TT RS and now have a 2018 TT RS both cars are fast but the MK3 is way faster. Add a tune on the Mk3 RS it will embarrass a few super cars. Sad they all ending an iconic car

I used to have a 2013 JCW MINI Paceman. It was similar to the Countryman but in a 2 door coupe style. Like the TT, it was unique and quirky but I used to get a ton of compliments on the style of the car. The Paceman was not a big seller in the MINI fleet. It was axed in (I think) 2016. When I bought my 2016 TTS I traded the Paceman and was disappointed in the trade value. The dealer had it, dropped the price, got rid of it, then it went through multiple price drops at a wholesale type seller. They couldn't give it away! Fast forward a couple years and now MINI dealers can't keep one on the lot. If they get a Paceman they can sell it within hours.

Maybe the TT will end up like that. Hold your TT's dear folks! :)

I'd love a TTee-tron!!! Perfect size for an electric run about.
