Default Tyre selection on 19" wheels.

The standard tyres on the TT 19" wheels are 245 x 35, but the bead isn't wide enough to protect the wheels at all. Is it feasible to put wider tyres on these wheels to a) get more grip, b) give more protection against wheel scrapes?

I don't know the answer, but I love how you spell Tire.

OEM 20 inch wheels fit a 255/30-20 tire

So for sure you can fit a 255/30-19 on your current wheels, I will.

Rather than wider tires consider one of the brands/models that feature a rim-protecting sidewall lip.

Thanks, my old one wore 255/35-19 as standard, was wondering if the standard wheels on my new one weren't as wide.

Sorry Gbob, that's how we spell tyre in English

I know, but I wonder why, in this globalized world, such things still exist.

Now, if we can only get you to drive on the 'right' side of the road...

In Canada we spell some words like the British, some like the Americans.

*globalised.

And we do! Just because we're in the minority doesn't mean we're wrong...

So, folk reckon I can get 255/35-19 tyres on these wheels?

Yes... I just wonder if acceleration will suffer from this setup...

I also wonder if it will make for a better ride...
