Default What Gear?

New to Audi with 2017 TT Roadster: how do I know what gear I'm in at any particular time, and is the trans supposed to find 6th, when cruising in Sport?? Thanks

In order for the gear to display you would need to make a coding change using Vag-Com or OBDEleven. While it takes longer, top gear should engage in Sport mode above a certain speed.

Concur for automatic mode but also be reminded that the current gear is annunciated when in manual transmission mode (stick moved to the right and paddles employed). "M1"... etc.

I often use Sport mode when onramp merging and then select normal mode to assure overdrive engagement for highway touring, although it would ultimately in Sport as well.

I have Vag-Com and have looked for the coding to make this change but with little luck. Do you know the require coding change or where I may find it?

This works for my 2013 A6. Might not for the newest models.

"02 Auto Trans", "10-Adaptations". Set "Single gear display" to "D=On/S=On".

My 08 TTS used to display the gear, but subsequent models seem to have lost this trait.
Thanks for posting that it can be overcome.

It does not work on my 2016 TTS. The Adaptations menu never fully populates and looks like this:

Thanks anyway.

There must be a coding somewhere for showing the gear number because my 2016 TT shows D1...D6, S1...S6 with a Unitronic stage 1 DSG tune.

Do you also have the TCU tune?
