What's your point? Depreciation is part of the automotive experience.

The Mk 2 TTRS low mileage CPOs that were 2-3 years old at the time sold in the $50s, If you were very patient, you could find a non-CPO in the mid$40s but they sold quickly. Even today you will have a hard time finding a low mileage Mk 2 TTRS for the low $40s. The Mk 3 TTRS is $10K more than the Mk 2. You are not going to sniff any low mileage Mk 3 TTRS for $40K for 15 years.

so if one pays $70k, according to you, 4 years later that car will sell for $52.5k. isnt 25% depreciation over 4 years some kind of record? what tools are asking for their '13 TTRS are possibly different than the amount the trade in dealer gives him after months of no private sale interest. affordable pre owned caymans will also drive down the prices. lack of interest in these cars, especially in the RS, will help buyer 2 [me]

Keep waiting but then I’ve enjoyed my TT RS for over 4yrs😂. To be honest I highly doubt that you’ll ever buy a TT RS😑

Bought my wife's 3 year old MB E350 CPO with 15K miles for about 50% of MSRP. Similar mileage 2-3 year old BMW M240 CPO convertibles with MSRP of about $55K are now selling for the mid $30s. Maseratis are about 50% off.

Average depreciation among all cars is about 12% per year or around 35% in three years. Obviously this varies greatly and certain models and nameplates get hit harder than others as do any models that are aggressively subsidized for leasing purposes. I honestly don't know what my 2018 TTRS's value will be in three or four years nor am I particularly concerned about it. I chose the TTRS to drive and enjoy and because it fits my wants and needs very nearly perfectly. I'll do all I can to take care of it and maintain it simply because I think its the right thing to do and will enjoy the car more if I do so and will let the resale value work itself out when the time comes.
