ABS module recoding
I have a 99 A6 that had the ABS module fail, vag-com would not find it at all. I replaced it with the ABS module from a 99-00 Passat. The vag-com will find it now, and shows me throwing a pass. side rear abs speed sensor code. Well our shop recently picked up another 99 with a bad module and also replaced theirs with a Passat module as well and they happen to be throwing the exact same code as me. Does the module need to be recoded to the A6? Or is it just coincidence that both cars need the same sensor?

There is a coding issue you should check
Passat is equivilant to A4, but you have an A6.
Make sure you follow the right coding instructions for the ABS module part number that you have installed!<ul><li><a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Audi_A4_%288D%29_Brake_Electronics_%28Bosch_5.3_AB S/EDS/ASR/ESP%29">ABS Coding</a></li></ul>

Re: ABS module recoding
its not unusual for rear speed sensor code to be caused by bad module with vag com hooked up you can graph speed sensors in measuring blocks look for 1 that is off also i have seen sensor ring on cv joint split and throwing signal off
