Default Adaptation?

I have a friend with a GIAC X chip. I we swapped out his 3bar FPR for a 4bar FPR. He runs alot better high on the rpm's but on the low end he bogs a little. Using the adaptation funtion can I cause the ECU to adapt to the added fuel pressure?

What doe sthe adaptation function do anyway? Has anyone successfully done an adaptation? For what purpose and what results?
