I`m having problem to get the car thru inspection cause the airbag light comes on and we have tried to reset it with 3 different machines, but it comes back right away! Car is Audi A3 1.6 (74kw) 8L, i live in Europe. I got this code;

1 Fault Found:
01212 - Belt Tensioner Igniter; Rear Passenger Side (N197)
29-00 - Short to Ground

And with other machine i got this; 04BCBelt tensioner ignition circuit, passenger side, rear
I am puzzled what to change or check and the small repair shops that are specialized to Audi are puzzled aswell as this code is not common with A3. I don`t want to bring my car to Audi Center as that might cost more than my car is worth (under 1000$).

Changing the wires is one option, but not easy / cheap. Also the car get`s quite damp (high humidity) inside which i think could be one problem, but the rear passenger side seatbelt area is dry.

Any help would be highly appreciated cause i`m running out of time.

Anyone? One dealer recommended to connect the front passenger side cable off and see does it give a code for that. If not, then it`s probably that one as the rear one doesn´t have the metal cartridge. But then also the short to ground. So annoying problem..

Thoughts guys? Inspection coming after next week.
