I am having an issue with the self-levelling headlights on my Audi A5 2010 hatchback (I believe it’s a 8T). When I turn on the ignition, they no longer do the little dance and auto level off, they are set in their previous position when the car was turned off. Whilst driving they seem to be erratic, when breaking they will go up or down depending on what position they were previously in and then stay in that position until I break again. This is a massive problem as it blinds on coming cars. I’ve had to resort to driving only in the day. I have run a VCDS check and the fault code (as per the image has come up) 01539 – Headlight Not Adjusted. I have also done a sequential Output Test in CAN 03 – in this mode the lights are lowered but then then it stays on “Analysing” until I click Done, Go back, meaning the test does not complete.

I am new to this and this is my first thread. If you guys need any info, please let me know.

Hi Pal,

mine recently did the same and its a simple fix. Get yourself into the headlight controller and make sure the vehicle is on level ground and in Neutral with your foot OFF the brakes and then choose Basic settings and select group 001 and it should say "wait" hang fire for 20 secs until it does its thing and then click on top right the "on/Off/Stop" button once and then again to stop and that's it.
Clear the fault codes first and then afterwards
