HELP!!! Recoding ECU is not cooperating....
4B0 906 018 Q
Soft Coding: 07251
2000 A4 1.8t Q Tip
ECU to be recoded:
4B0 906 018 P
Soft Coding: 07001
2000 a4 1.8t Q manual (according to the seller)
I purchased the ECU above with Giac Chip installed, and thought I was going to be able to recode it to to work with my Auto Trans. I've seen tons of posts from peopl who have done this succesfully.
Here's what I've been trying:
Turn car on (not started)
Vag-Com to Engine
Logon to ECU using 11463 code
Recode to 07251
Do It
The code doesn't take.
I was able to recode it to 07201 (manual trans AWD) succesfully, but it won't let me code it as an Auto.
I've tried engine on, log on, recode, turn off, turn back on, and recheck code. The old code was still there. I've tried using other combinations of soft codes for an Auto, but none would take?????
I've also tried using the WSC code (06325) of the old ECU and the WSC (00000) of the Trans while recoding, but no luck.....
I have tried everything suggested on the B5 forum with no luck.
Do I need to use a different login code? 01283 did not work.
Is the Q ecu vs the P ecu a problem?
I have also been able to recode the locks and trans so I know my cable is working properly.
I am using a registered version of the VAG software.
I need to get this to work. Otherwise I have to sell it, and I don't want to do that.
Who has the Magic Suggestion?
Thanks in advance...

If so, maybe we should just swap an solve both of our problems.
I've been told that the quattro vs fwd doesn't matter, but I was able to change the code on mine from FWD manual to quattro manual.
My stock one is fine, I just wanted to be able to keep it stock incase I ever had problems with the Chipped one. Looks like I'll be selling this one off and just chip my stock box.
I thought I'd have some extra kick for my road trip next week.
