Default Misfire

Got fed up with the stealer, bought a HEX-COM. They told me I had a misfire, and to change my plugs. I changed 'em. Misfire code is back. Anyone have any specifics on where I should go with this info?

Default Whoops, my bad.

I was gonna make a sig with that, but I forgot.

99.5 A4 Q, 2.8L 30v, 5-speed

CEL originally @ 39k miles, brought to dealer @ 40k miles. The cleared it, said change the spark plugs. I put new Bosch Platinum 2's and some injector cleaner in. CEL went off on it's own. Now it's at 41k miles, and it's back on, worse than ever.

Basically every cold start produces this misfire. Even when it's fully warm at idle, the 015 VAG module counds 4 or 5 misfires on Cyl 1 every minute. It's not enough to trigger the CEL, when warm, but every morning, it's back.

Default What plugs does Audi specifiy for this engine?

I'm guessing they're not Bosch Platinum 2's. I would try the correct plugs.

Other than that, I don't know much about the 2.8 engines. If the problem persists, post it on the VAG-COM group on Yahoo Groups. There's number of helpful dealer techs that hang out there.

Default Not sure what they specify...

But the OEM ones were dual ground electrode NGK plugs. I'd either have had to order them or get them from the dealer for more $$, which was really why I went with the Bosch Platinum 2s in the first place.
