Default Recoding trouble on 2007 RS4...

Just took delivery of my 2007 RS4 and want to make the seatbelt chime less obnoxious.

I have done this on another RS4 a few weeks ago with no problems. The default code on the car I did previously was 0023261. I changed the code to 0023258 and the chime was eliminated.

Now on my new car I open the "Instruments" section and the default does not match what I saw previously. It is 0023268 on mine. I try to change the value to 0023258 and the code doesn't change. Hitting "Do-it" only brings my back to the default code.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

What version of VAG-COM are you using? Could you provide more details like a complete Auto-Scan?

I am using the newest version - Release 704. What do you mean by a "complete Auto-scan"?

I see the Auto-scan option... now. I'm a dope. I can do one in a few minutes.

Just use the Auto-Scan function and copy'n'paste it here.

Default Ran the Auto-Scan...

The results are in!

No faults that I see, so what could be the problem? I was able to change the window up/dn with the remote successfully.

Default Thanks, that really helped. The scan itself shows more data like part numbers, software versions...

...and other details, which are in some cases important.

You are trying to recode from NAR NEW to NAR OLD, it's possible that this option has been taken out of the latest clusters, sadly none of the documentation we have access to helps. Have you tried setting it to 0 for no seatbelt warning at all?

In this particular case the last digit of the coding is the only part which doesn't directly match but we figured that difference too. It's the setting for the Washer Fluid Warning!

According to the documentation we have access to this change should be valid for cluster software versions 0200 and above, but yours is obviously 0100 (as you can see in the component id). Nothing t worry about since yours is a US model though, and they are often a little different...

Our WIKI has been updated and should cover the new details too.<ul><li><a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Audi_A4_%288E%29_Instrument_Cluster_%288EC/8ED/8HE%29">http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Audi_A4_%288E%29_Instrument_Cluster_%288EC/8ED/8HE%29</a</li></ul>

Default I think I am figuring this out now. So you think I should try...

to recode from 0023268 to 0023208 (which should eliminate the seatbelt chime all together?)

I will give it a shot this evening.

Thank you.

OK... recoded to 0023258. That seems to have done it. Thanks for the help!
