Seat memory not working on my 09 S5?
Well I needed to remove the MMI screen for a project I was doing and when you power up the car while something like this is unplugged you'll get tons of codes. Well I went to clear them and all of the other codes cleared fine but 2 of them won't clear. Everything worked fine/perfectly before the removal of the MMI screen.
Here are the symptoms:
1) The seat memory buttons on the drivers door don't work for setting the seats. It only will set the side mirrors. I cannot hit the SET button to store any seat adjustments, they just don't work.
2) The seats move manually/electronically using the lower individual seat settings on the lower part of the drivers seat.
3) On the MMI screen if you go to SEATING>PASSENGER SEAT>SET SYMMETRY, the passenger seat will not adjust at all, nothing happens.
When I first bought the car I had the same problem and took it to the dealer and they said that the feature was not activated during the pre-car delivery inspection the dealer does to get the car ready for delivery. I think this is what needs to be done.
Now, does anyone know how or what to do to get this working again or is this a dealer only problem? I some how don't think so but you never know.
And now for the codes:

I'm not sure you need to do anything with a scan tool to fix this. Try running the the seat all the way forward and all the way back using the controls on the side. Keep holding the control in the forward or backward position for a second or two after the seat reaches its limit of travel.

That makes some sense, kind of like how you need to do with the windows after the battery is disconnected. Run them all the way up and then down to activate the one touch window feature.
I'll give it a try.

That did it!
I ran the drivers seat all the forward then all the way backward and the seat memory buttons in the drivers door became active. I then went into the MMI menu and tried the seat symmetry and it now all works properly.

Hi I had the same problem. Did you had the stop button down or up? and what about the key? was in or out?

It does work! Thanks!!
I had the same problem (Set and 1 and 2 buttons would not light up or recall my memory seating)...
And by pushing the front driver's seat all the up and all the way down the buttons turned off / light up.
My original memory seat settings were lost but I easily saved my new seat settings -- and all is well.
Much thanks!

A5 2011. Seat memory malfunction
Thank you so much for the tip. It works perfectly. Either forward-backward, up-down reaching limits. It also fixes the passanger adjustment through the MMI.
Thanks,
