Default Tech question, more ODIS than VCDS...

Does anyone know if it is possible for ODIS/similar to bypass basic settings?

Back story, summer is here and compressor is down on my 2007 Q7 with basic settings not being done (due to V300 right side actuator out of action). Replacing this requires removal of :
- MMI display
- HVAC controls
- CD player
- Centre console
- Dash display
- Steering wheel
- Vents
- And lots and lots of other stuff!!

As I don't much care whether my passengers feet are warm or cold (passenger is generally my dog) I'd like to find a way to get the compressor back up without spending two days stripping the front of the car.

My local VCDS guy said no and my local Audi garage just looked horrified, but, if there's a way I'd be very happy. And so would my dog.

Default ?

Are you saying you believe the AC compressor is not running due to basic settings not being complete?

Yes, exactly, compressor won't turn on unless HVAC basic settings are completed without any errors. Car is 12 years old so all the little actuator motors are knackered. Left side motors are easy (ish) to replace (If you're skinny then you can just about reach them through the footwell). Right side motors require the front of the car to be stripped. A total PITA, especially when I'm UK based and only need aircon for two weeks a year! 😂

Default Hmm

Odd that they would designthe system so that it does that. I have a 2008 Q7 and haven't experienced any issues with it yet...fingers crossed. You're positive it's not the ac compressor clutch or something? Is there an output test for the clutch?

Kinda makes sense tbh, used basic settings to try and recalibrate to motors before realising they were knackered, if I'd read further I'd have got to the bit that states it disables AC if there are issues.... Doh...

So, replaced the left hand side motors and realised that it'd be quicker to splice in a spare motor onto the loom than remove the dash/steering wheel etc. Clever huh? Unfortunately, the cars age means that even more motors are throwing up various errors now..... So I still can't clear basic settings....

If I get a used heater control (4LO 820 043 E) will it need basic settings after component protection has been removed by my local Audi guys? Is this a potential solution?
