Default VAGCOM Interface Upgrade

I had a genuine Ross-Tech VAGCOM KII-USB interface cable for a 2001 VW Jetta I used to own. I just did my first service/oil change on my 2014 A7 Prestige TDi, and need to reset my SRI. Of course, my KII-USB cable doesn't work with the Audi. I purchased the upgrade option ($159 to go from the KII-USB to the HEX-USB-CAN) on the Ross-Tech website, but before I ship my KII-USB cable, wanted to see if anyone else on this forum has done the interface upgrade and has any lessons learned/do's/don'ts. Thanks for any info.

OK, well, I went ahead and shipped my old cable UPS. I'll post updates through the process in case anyone else is considering doing this.

Be sure to also update your Vag-Com software.

I think the version 16.8.4 I already have is good for both the old KII-USB and the new HEX-USB+CAN interfaces, is that not the case?

Um, one single update post when you have received the cable would probably have been fine.

This is a pretty simple procedure. You may be a lot more concerned with all the intermediate steps, but I have to agree with Snagit, just the results, success, or failure would probably have been enough...

Ross-Tech is well known for their quality and professionalism, I would not have worried, and I did an upgrade too, I just made sure they got the unit I sent back.
