Default VCDS-New Faults Found After Clearing of DTCs

I have a 2008 Audi A8L (D3/V8) and nominal experience with a VAG-Com cable. I have been getting this Engine fault code on a recurring basis:
000135 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure - P0087 - 008 - Too Low - MIL ON

I tried to have a local shop look at the issue and they replaced a fuel filter which did not fix the issue. The CEL came back after 150 miles. On my next trip to them they suggested the in-tank fuel pumps were possibly faulty, but had no experience changing them and directed me to the dealer.

So I tried another local shop and while they listened to my story, they wanted to see the code tripped themselves. So after another 100 miles or so my CEL once again illuminated, but when I returned to the shop they claimed it was a different fault which triggered the CEL (Mil On) and still could not troubleshoot the Fuel Rail/System Pressure fault issue.
*(Fuel Rail/System Pressure fault requires 2 instances to trigger a Mil On).

I told them this has been cleared several times either by the other shop or myself via the VAG Com. No use, they want to see the CEL tripped by the Fuel Rail/System Pressure fault before troubleshooting.

After another 150 miles it triggered the CEL and this time it was the Fuel Rail/System Pressure fault which caused the Mil On. I knew I could not take it in for a few weeks, so I decided to clear the CEL since I knew it would return within a couple 200 of miles. Now this is where it gets weird...

I cleared the DTCs with my VAG-Com/VCDS (which I have done several times before) but after I disconnected this time I saw an EPC lamp. This caused me to run diagnostics again and now I am receiving several Engine faults which had never occurred before, all which will not clear.

How could I receive all of these new hard faults just from clearing my DTCs? I never even drove the car. Did I screw something up when I cleared my Codes?

Help!

Thanks anyway!

maybe try the forum specific to your car, much more traffic there. Also, it's not unusual for codes to multiply when there is a wiring or other kind of problem. I would rule out that it's NOT the high pressure or low pressure pumps being faulty... Remove and reinstall all connectors you can reach, then drive it and see what happens.

My 06 A4 would occasionally throw a fuel pressure code that I can only assume was because of a loose wire or worn out connector.

Thanks Kris.

The crazy thing is my car was running fine after it popped the CEL for the Low Fuel Pressure fault. I had just decided to clear the code as I was not hitting the repair shop that week.

Now I have a bunch of new codes along with the EPC & ESP faults and when I tried to drive it tonight, all it did was sputter with no power. I doubt I could even drive it to the shop.

Are you 100% sure you don't have a mechanical fault? Is yours an FSI engine?

Not 100% and yes, it is FSI.
Just seems odd it decided to fail between driving home and running codes.

For sure, odd. I would maybe consider doing a hard reset of the car - remove the battery for enough time that the car needs to re-learn itself. With an A8 this may cause other issues to pop up though, the extent of which I'm not 100% certain. I'd highly recommend posting in the forum for D3 A8, there are some incredibly knowledgeable folks in there. I just don't have the firsthand experience with the D3 to help you as much as I'd like.

Thanks Kris. I did perform that reset (to no avail) and will probably post this in the D3 forum.
