Default Xenon Range error Code 00774 / 00776

I am getting an error with the Xenon lights, and after trying what you suggested in a previous post, I have had no luck in resolving the issue.

A previous post by Uwe suggested the following.
[Select]
[55 - Xenon Range]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]

The measuring block fields should say "Wait"

Wait at least 20 seconds for the headlamp motors to move. The headlamps are now in their adjustment position. Then Click

[ON/OFF/Next]

The measuring block fields should say "Adjust Headlights".

[ON/OFF/Next]

The measuring block fields should say "Position Learned" (or something like that).

If this doesn't work, tell us exactly what you see in Measuring Blocks, group 002.

I have done that, but I get an error when I go to group 001. The speciffic inf is
"ERROR" GROUP 001 Not Available

The headlights never start to adjust, nothing happens.
To get to this point I have inserted VAG cable, turned car to on position, but did not start it, then I turned on headlights.

Can you provide the procedure?
Thanks
Cliff

Default The above procedure isn't quite right for your car.

It's for newer ones. The correct one for yours is at the link below, but you should still be able to get into Basic Settings Group 001.

The symptoms you describe are usually due to one of the height sensors being out of range.

Go to measuring blocks, Group 002 and tell us what you have there.

Default Re: The above procedure isn't quite right for your car.

The procedure you suggested is not working with the conditions met. I have also tried it with the engine on/running, and that did not work either.
The symptoms are that when I enter Xenon range, 001, I get an "ERROR". When I try to enter 29, Left Light, the system tries to connect numerous times, and then I receive a popup which says "no response from controller". I can access several of the other modules, and I can even get into measuring blocks, and basic settings on a few control modules, but I cannot get in to either of the modules you suggested in order to resolve the Xenon Range error. It should be noted that I also have an error, in the same module. The error number is 01539 - Headlights not adjusted.
Any suggestions?
BTW, in measuring blocks 002, I have the following
Voltage Front - 1.91 V
Voltage Rear - .53 V
Actuator MOtors - 69.1%
Time constant - 0.03 s

Default Sorry, I missed this when it you posted it.

Your rear voltage is way too low.

I'm confident the Basic Setting will work of you jack up the rear some to bring that voltage up. Do this just to prove to yourself that this is the problem, then find a way to mechanically "tweak" the sensor.

Default Problem Solved - Mechanical problem

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/109041/left_rear_leveler_view_1.jpg"></center><p>
Uwe,
When you mentioned that the voltage on the rear needed to be higher, and that the voltage of my car was out of range, I began looking through this forum, and others and all indications were that there may be a mechanical problem with the leveler, or the leveler sensor was faulty.
I took the left rear tire off of the car, and examined the sensor. When I removed the plug to the sensor, the votage went from .53 to zero. This cleraly indicated that the sensor was working, but may need calibration. As I looked at the mechanical arms that connect to the sensor, I noticed that the arms were somehow inverted. I have posted a before and after picture that shows the problem, but in a nutshell, with the arm inverted, the movement of the tire (up or down) could not be picked up by the sensor, because the sensor was topped out.

By simply tugging on the linkage, it reverted back to the correct mechanical position, and the voltage showed at over 2V, rather than the .53V that it was originally showing.
With the mechanical problem corrected, I used the procedure that yo uhave listed, and it worked just fine. For your info, the settings are accomplished using the 55 Xenon range, and not the 29 - Left Light and 39 - Right Light.
Thanks for your help.

I reccomend that you add some content to your procedure, to show that if the voltage is low, it is likely the mechanical sensor, and given the nature of the sensor, it is possible to invert them.
Also, as I mentioned before, this error light came about as the result of installing lowering springs into the car. It may make sense to also mention this.
If you post the original procedure to the Wiki, I'll be glad to log in and add content as apropriate.

Default Same issue on a C5 A6...

My 2004 A6 is throwing the following:
Address 55: Xenon Range Labels: 4Z7-907-357.lbl
Part No: 4Z7 907 357
Component: dynamische LWR D09
Coding: 00050
Shop #: WSC 02325
VCID: 040C65C73E8B

2 Faults Found:
00774 - Level Control System Sensor; Left Rear (G76)
28-00 - Short to Plus
00776 - Level Control System Sensor; Left Front (G78)
28-10 - Short to Plus - Intermittent

The front sensor is stuck on reporting .74 volts no matter the position of the car, whereas the rear sensor seems to change appropriately when the car tips. When I cleared the codes, only the out of adjustment code comes back, and when I go to Basic Settings, group 001 gives "ERROR" GROUP 001 Not Available.

I'm thinking I have a bad front sensor; what do you guys think?

Thanks!
