Quiet, comfortable and potent saloon. I've driven 1000 miles in a day, and felt like I could do 500 more without a problem. Surprisingly fuel efficient when cruising. Full with family there's so much space there is no fighting. Cavernous boot.

This is a Facelifted S8 (D2) "Ronin" model (look it up on YouTube or https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-ne...di-s8---ronin/). It has never failed an MoT despite having covered 309,000 miles. I've owned it since 2001 and bought it from an Audi dealership having previously been an Audi demonstrator. It has every possible option, including the following.

• Privacy screens in the rear.
• Heated rear seats.
• Alcantara head lining and piller lining.
• Full leather pack for every other surface, except where it has vaneer.
• Bi-Xenon headlamps.
• Detachable tow bar with 95kg tow ball weight capacity.
• K&N air filter.
• Sports gearbox ratios.
• Navigation+ satnav including Europe.
• Autodipping heated mirrors.
• Memory seats.
• Audi original detachable roof bars.
• Solar sunroof which powers the aircon when the car is parked in the sunshine.
• All round double glazing.

All of the mechanicals have been serviced by an independent local Audi specialist at intervals better than those recommended by Audi or sooner than the on-board service indicator suggests. This includes all valve timing and ignition matters. There has been a full gearbox rebuild at 298,000 to address the most common weakness that these cars are known to have. The car has never suffered from tracking problems, although the Avus 6-spoke alloy wheels would benefit from refurbishment.

A new air conditioning radiator was installed in 2016 and the blower was replaced at the same time. Recent regassing.

The all-aluminum bodywork is completely sound with no dents, but would benefit from a mechanical polishing to remove minor scratches (e.g. from road-side bushes). The non-aluminum fuel filler cap needs bare metal respraying. Front bumper needs respraying as it shows signs of stone chips, road salt and bug impacts.

The front passenger side door card has aged badly where it meets the door seal rubber. All of the other door cards are excellent. The steering wheel looks like it has done the miles.
