Default Cruising time is over.....for now.

The "special" cars (non-daily drivers) are all settled in for a long winter's nap....well, I'll wake them once a month to start and drive them a mile or two, but the weather for cruising in the old cars is just a memory!

Default Insulation...

...perhaps. To be honest, I like the "woody" look, as it looks more like a barn (which there are MANY of around here). At the same time, who can deny the value of insulation?

I like the looks of the very finished looking garages I see in books (epoxied floors, special lighting, etc.), but don't mind mine at all.

A compromise might be to build a large barn with half of it looking like the "fantasy" garages I mentioned above, and the other half still very utilitarian.

I guess (with regard to my current garage), a deciding factor might be if we ended up using some of the upstairs (half?) for another, non-automotive purpose (exercise room, workshop for my clock repairs, etc.). In that case finishing at least part of the upstairs would be likely. The walls up there are currently T-111 barn board.

I would also like a woodworking shop, so another building may be in my future. Who knows?! I'm going to be here for a long time!

Default That garage is way too clean and neat

Why...you can even see the floor! That's just not right. I'd like the fantasy look too but reality says my place is way beyond that.

In the pic the floor looks halfway decent it isn't really), but when I got it there was at least 1" of caked on grease and dirt on the floor. There are oil stains even 20-30 feet up the walls. I've been cleaning it for nearly two years and it still has a long way to go.

I am jealous!

Default

Why not rest them on stands over winter to give the tires & suspension a rest?
