Default First Annual Hilton Head Concours Car Club Jamboree

Hi all,
Just got an e-mail about an event that is desparately seeking Audis to show (info below).
Cheers!
Steve

Details:

Hi Audi/DKW Clubs Leadership,

I am contacting you about your Club members (selected by your clubs) exhibiting in the Hilton Head Concours & Motoring Festival's Saturday Nov 1st Car Club Jamboree (CCJ), the Saturday event in a four day Motoring Festival that culminates in the Sunday, Nov 2nd Concours. This year one-half of the CCJ field will be devoted to German Performance Car Clubs and we would really like to see 15 Audi/DKW club member's cars on the Saturday CCJ show field.

We would really like to see Audi/DKW participation (Audi Club may have members with DKW's and NSU's, too). PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR INTEREST ASAP, and I'll pass you on to Gary Henderson, who co-manages the CCJ with Bill Schmitt. Other German performance clubs - Porsche, Mercedes, VW, BMW - have either already completed their member registrations, or will do so in the next couple of weeks. While Audi/DKW are a bit behind, there is still time to sign-up. We would love to see early Quattro's, a Super 90, perhaps first and second generation TT coupes and convertibles, an R8. Any DKW car would be of interest - a 1000SP, a Junior, etc. Porsche and Mercedes are planning to display the ranges of their marques over the past 50 years - 356's, early 911's up to the GT3, and for Mercedes the range of SL's from 190SL up until the present. Audi/DKW can make a great showing, too. I guarantee it will be fun.

In case you haven't been to the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival recently and experienced the Car Club Jamboree, then I offer the following explanation.

Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival's Saturday, November 1st "Car Club Jamboree"

The Car Club Jamboree is not a "cruise-in". Where EuroFest and some other events are akin to a "cruise-in", the CCJ invites car clubs - the clubs select cars from among their members who want to display on the CCJ field (limited to 15 Audi/DKW cars) and the club's liaison person provides that list to Gary Henderson. Gary will then follow-up with the club's liaison with more details about CCJ registration, what time for the club to arrive (as a group) Saturday morning to be parked on the field as a group, etc.

While the CCJ is great fun for member exhibitors, the rest of the Audi/DKW membership can have fun as spectators. It's a family affair. Make it a club event. Rally down together. I can tell you that clubs that have exhibited in the past want to come back year after year.

Again, the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival is a 4-day event October 30 - Nov. 2. It starts with track events at Hutchinson Island (across from downtown Savannah) and culminates in Sunday's Concours. Saturday's CCJ is when invited car clubs place their selected member cars on the field, "drivers" not Concours cars, though most of cars that have exhibited at past CCJ's have been superb. Think about the kind of prep (wash and wax) that you would do for Eurofest or a Audi/DKW member show. Park your car with other club selected Audi/DKW cars on the show field and have a good time. There are awards for "Best Club", "Peoples Choice", "Top 30" (voted on by the CCJ exhibitors), "Kids Award", etc. There is a $30 registration fee for CCJ exhibitors. As one of the 15 Audi/DKW CCJ exhibitors, one receives 2 passes for Saturday, 2 passes for Sunday, a gift bag, awards potential, and invitations to register for other events (banquet, etc) that are limited to exhibitors and sponsors only.

Stay for the Concours on Sunday to round out the weekend. If you have time, come for the Thursday and Friday track exhibitions, hot-laps, autocross, etc. Note: The Concours website www.hhiconcours.com is intended for general information, for spectators to purchase tickets in advance, and for donations to our charities including Driving Young America. Go to the website for a more complete description of the 4-day Concours and Motoring Festival. The website is not intended for CCJ initial registration. Initial CCJ registration goes through Gary, then individual members register on-line, once given the OK by the Concours CCJ.

Below are both Gary Henderson and Bill Schmitt's contact info. Gary and Bill co-manage the CCJ. While your primary contact will be Gary, please feel free to contact either Bill or I, if Gary is unavailable when you need him.

We would love to see a large Audi/DKW presence here, on the CCJ field and as spectators.

Best regards,

Truitt
