Default Help: Want to buy 1982-83 5000, maybe Turbo?

Hello folks,

It's been awhile since I've posted on Audiworld, and now I'm ready to get back into the fold - with an older model if possible.

I've owned - and had very good experiences - a 1978 Audi 100 1.6L while in Europe, and would like to purchase a C3 model for nostalgia's sake. I think in the US it was labeled as the 5000 and for at least 1-2 years they even had the Turbo model (with a 3 speed auto!).

I have this crazy notion of getting a C3 and maybe installing a later model 20V Turbo engine in it, to see what she can really do .

If anybody has any ideas where I can find an 82-83 model (regardless of spec), I'd really appreciate it.

Default I see plenty of C3's on CL

check your area or the larger neighboring metropolitain areas.

Personally, I'd look at throwing a 20v turbo into a 4000q. check the 4000/cgt boards for more info.

http://www.craigslist.org/</a

Default Thanks!

I'll check the local CL...

But as for using a 4k body, I've had one already and it just doesn't click with me as the C3 big boy does... just personal preference.

Once again, thanks for the suggestion!

Default I've been looking, too...

I have a pretty good stable of vintage Audis. My first was a 1982 5000. I'd like to find another to restore, but I am not finding any worthy here on the east coast.

If you doo find one, get in touch: I have a very large collection of no longer available, impossible to find new parts (fenders, door, hood, trunklid, complete rear quarters, seals, gaskets, window motors, steering rack, etc., etc.).

Where are you located?

If your interested I have a 1981 Audi 5000 turbo for sale here in Missoula,Mt. It has 115,000 original miles. Auto trans is in excellent shape! I personally drove this car on a road trip with speeds up to 130mph. this car is no slug! It does have a few issues though.
The fuel pump needs rewired, And I think it needs new seals in the turbo, or possibly valve guide seals. If the car didn't smoke I would still be driving it because it is very reliable.
