Q5 2014 Passenger side headlight unit

The Daytime running light (DRL) that goes all the way round the headlight unit stopped working. When I switch the lights on, the DRL flickers on for a split second and then stays off. I went to a garage and we switched around the LED Light Ballast Control Unit, as that is usually the failure point according to forums. But that was not the issue and the control unit was still working. It seems a waste that I now have to buy a whole headlight replacement unit just because the DRL does not work. Does anyone have any experience in solving this? In the worst case, I am looking to purchase a good condition headlight unit (My part number says 8R0 941 031 D and it is made by Valeo). I cannot find any exact part number matches on Ebay so was wondering if my 2014 would also be compatible with the 2013 to 2016 headlight units which have slightly different part numbers?

I ran that number and it looks like a used one would be the way to go.

That number you gave me supersedes to multiple parts.

8r0-941-753-d headlamp
n-107-21801 gas bulb
8k0-941-597-b ballast for headlamp
4g0-907-697-d module for DRL
3d0-941-329-a module for cornering light
8r0-941-475-a led with heat sink
8r0-941-453-a retaining plate
n107-086-01 hex bolt

Hope this helps your search

Hi Brian, thanks a lot, I was struggling to understand what it had been superceded by! Does this mean I need to buy all of the components you listed or would I be able to use some from my existing setup? For example, the gas bulb, could I just take out my old one and use that instead of a new one? Or are the new parts not compatible with my old ones? Thanks for your insight.

Usually this means you will need all parts because the headlamp design changed in some sort of way. You can match up the parts you have in your car now to see if they are the same or PM your vin quick and I can try to run it. Ill see if I can pick out some differences.

hey, did you have to remove the jumper to access the ballast control unit?

I had the same issue.
BUT I thought.. damn, I bought the platinum extra warrantee package.. Ill be covered... NOPE.. does not cover sealed beams, and they said the LED lights control module failed because of moisture in the headlamp. 3500$ for a new headlamp .. 1000$ for a control module... plus labour.
I said F off.
Came home.. opened the cover for the projector light to just let it air out over night.. but just a few hours later its almost dried up.. and the LEDs now work.

So.. just pop open the light cover and let it sit a while... might fix your issue.
