Default 2002 A6: Wheel or Tire too large? Help!

i recently bought a new set of these after doing research that they would fit my 02 A6 Quattro. I had 235/50/17's mounted but they're now hitting the spindle on the front so bad that they can be driven (until I get spacers?).
Normal tire height for this wheel is 235/45/17 but I wanted to know if anyone has put a setup close to this on their C5 and if so, what width spacer did you use for front and back? Is there a method to how you measure (aside from just measuring the rim hub to the outside)

Thanks!

235/50Ra7 is a little tall, but (we) will need to know the offset to get an idea on spacer size. Wheel may be stamped with ET35 or something close to that on the back somewhere,.

We would sell you a wheel around ET35, so a 10mm spacer should get you where you need to be. We do not sell spacers, however, so you'll need to make sure that the company you are buying from has a good return / exchange policy in case 10mm is not enough.

The orig 16" stock wheels that are currently on there also have a 45mm offset but I believe the width & slightly taller height of the new combo are whats causing it to rub.

At this point, Im just trying to figure out if a 15 or 20mm would work to put the wheel far enough away from the suspension and keep it within the fender well.

Thanks for replying.
