Default Which 21" all-season tires for new 2015 Q7?

Looking for advice on all-season tires for my new Q7 - it has 21" rims. Dealer said that Continental CrossContact LX Sport 275/40-21 would fit but ....... Audi doesn't approve it due to the speed rating and they would want me to sign a disclaimer. I checked on tirerack.com and there doesn't seem to be a 40 series but I do see this tire in 275/45R21 with 110Y load/speed rating. Anyone used this on a Q7?

I've also seen on this forum that there is apparently an all-season Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I checked the website and see they have the 295/35ZR21 with 107Y rating. Anyone have any experience with it?

Background - today I went to pick up my brand new Q7 from the dealership in Chicago. It has the Offroad Style Plus package which comes with 21" wheels. Despite the salesman confirming in writing that it was fitted with all-season tires I found out when I went to collect the car that it has summer tires. It has the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx which I won't accept for Chicago weather conditions.

You are correct that the Cross Contact LX Sport is not made in 275/40R21, but the very highly rated Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus is made in that size. I see no problem with the load or speed rating on that tire, ditto on the 295/35R21 Conti DWS06.

Between the two, the Conti DWS06 has quicker steering response and more dry grip, while the Pirelli has a softer ride and longer wear. We have the Pirelli available now, but the DWS06 tires are on backorder until late Spring.

Thanks Gary - it seems to be listed on the Continental website here:

Am I missing something?

Following this because I have the exact same question. Mine is arriving with summer tires but I live in the mountains...pretty sure they are not going to work.

Interesting. Thank you for the link! It is not showing up in our system. I'll get with our rep and Conti and post what I found out.

We have found that this is a new tire size for this model of tire. We can get it in about two to three weeks in 275/40R21.

It performed well in our in house testing but only is ranked 16th out of 21 tires in the category for customer survey data.

I would give the Verde a shot over the Cross-Contact....a known-lame tire.

I went with the Conti DWS06. Been driving for a couple of weeks now and all good so far. The width of the 295 looks great. 35 aspect ratio results in feeling a few more bumps but not too bad. No issues at all with noise. Will report back after some more winter driving conditions.

Good choice. The dws06 should have better sidewall flex and cornering compared to the previous version.

The 295 doesn't bubble over the sides? According to tirerack, it looks like the 295 is too wide for a 9" stock wheel.
