Default 245/40 R18 recommendations, please

for an 05 A6. Currently running OEM Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 XL. 45,000 uneventful miles, now time to replace. Other A/S tires to consider? I'm in DC so not too much snow but we do get some ice. TIA.

Default i am thinking about the updated Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for my next tire.

It is more summer performance oriented that what you have now. Less winter/ice traction than the MxM4 has. If you want to go a tad less $$, the Goodyear F1 A/S is getting great reviews also.

Load rating too low for the A6 IIRC, but good choice for the A4

What's the minimum load index rating acceptable for the A6?

Default Does it really have to be XL-load-rated? TR allows non-XL for this car too, AFAIK.

BTW, I recently put on Bridgestone RE960 on mine. Pretty good grip/handling for an all-season tire. I have yet to try them in light snow though.

Default I called Audi

It's also listed on the fuel door with the tire pressures.
