Anybody running 255/40-17's on 2001 A6 (2.8)? Any rubbing issues?? TIA.

Chris JB is running them on his '00 A6 2.7T which, other than

the brakes, is identical(IIRC) to the '01 A6 2.8. He also has Eibach lowering springs and told me he had some occasional rubbing on the top fender-liner screw. He took that out...no more rubbing.

Also depends on the tire...he has the S6's Conti's and Avus wheels.

Re: Anybody running 255/40-17's

The 245/45R17 is as large as I would safely suggest. 255s may work, but like Pete mentions, tire section profile could be close to where some light rubbing could occur on the liner.

You could try it, I simply suggest you test fit the tires clearance before driving on them, shoudl they not work. call me if I can help!
