Audi A4 different size wheels but not what you think
Hi guys I've just bought a 2003 A4 1.9tdi estate as a run about for while I move house and bits. At the moment it's got the standard 16" wheels that are really tatty and have horrible budget tyres. I also have a set of compomotive mo5s off my Vx220 and a set of PCD adaptors to hand but my problem is the comps are staggered diameter and width. I'm not concerned about the width at all because it's not a quattro but will the difference in diameter confuse the ESP and the ABS? The tyres are 205/45/R16 fronts and 225/45/R17 rears. I would just throw them on and try it but I'll need to buy spigot ring adapters to, I've tried to do a search for this but just get the thing about staggered widths on quattros.
Thanks
Chris

205/45R16 is 2" smaller than OE (215/55R16) and doesn't have enough load capacity to be used safely.
To answer your question, however, all four tires need to be within 3% of one another's overall diameter to make the electronics cooperate. Your two sizes are over 7% apart.
