Conti Extreme Contact DWS versus Bridgestone RE980AS
I am looking to get performance all seasons for my '02 AR. I live in NYC. Driving style is spirited but not aggressive, and the car isn't a spring chicken at this point. Thinking of either the old standby Conti DWS or the latest iteration of the Bridgestones, the RE980AS. Thoughts would be welcome, thanks.

I would say the biggest consideration would be how much that you drive in the snow. The DWS is still the best tire for winter traction, but the BS is a close second, but with a bit better dry cornering performance.

One of the most important things that I've done to improve the handling & control of my C6 was put on a set of DWS-06's.
They may have been a bit more expensive than some of the alternatives, but well worth it. We,also get enough snow & rain here that they've proved themselves in those categories, for me, too.
Actually, if I had to do it again, I'd get the Michelin's. They are rated even sharper handling, with a little ride sacrifice, per TireRack.
The DWS's replaced my AO ProContacts & are SO much sharper handling, again, with a little ride sacrifice.
So, I'm an advocate of premium all season tires. I think in that category, you get what you pay for.
Just my $0.02.

AS3+ or the DWS are still the two top choices in the field...speaking asmsomeone who owns/has owned each and the Bridgestones as well. All solid choices, but the Michelin’s and Conti are the 2 go to’s for me
