Default whats wrong with 235/40/18? excellent tire by the way. i seriously think its one of the best street

tires out on the market now. performed flawless last weekend at an ACNA track event as well. i've been impressed so far and it even had decent treadwear life.

Yes and no. They do come in the correct size, but this is a standard load tire with the tires max load being 1356lbs. This weight meets the gross axle weight rating of the car exactly (meaning there is no room for error on inflation pressure). Because most tires in this size just barely have enough load capacity, Audi recommends tires with an extra load (XL) rating to give excess capacity for safety. If you are careful with keeping your tire pressures up, you can by without using XL tires.

Tires

I had a concern about the lack of an XL rating and Gary answered the concern.

Gary, can the tires tolerate HPDE events in spite of the weight?

Being that you won't be loading the vehicle down with passengers and luggage during these events and that you'll be running higher psi, I'd say you'd be fine.

Default my answer is YES. in fact i just ran the Neova's (245/40/17) at the ACNA Spring Mtn event in Pahrump

one of the best tires i've driven on at the track. definitely R-compound like characteristic, being very sticky. held up nicely too. go for it, you'll be fine.

Default Great news, thanx. Been researching this tire for awhile and except for the XL rating....

thought this tire has the best all around characteristics for a street/track combination. You are the first and only respondent I've heard from to verify this. How was Spring Mtn? I believe several from the board here in AW attended the event.. DEENO being one. Thanx for the info.
