Default Going from 18in stock wheels to 20?


Hi everyone. I have a 2012 A6 Turbo. Has the stock 18 inch wheels on them. Pretty basic and I'm wanting a more sporty look possibly even machine. I am trying to decide if it is worth going up to 20 inch wheels like an s-line look or staying with 18 and still going with an s-line look. Is it worth upgrading to 20s? Would that make the drive bad?

Current 18 wheels in above picture. Just need some extra advice on not only the drive but the look. Do not want to spend money on s-line 18 tires if they would look too small.

S line looks combine a lower profile tire with lowering springs to decrease the gap between the top of the tire and the fender arch. Assuming you don't have the Leveling Control system, you can add an Eibach ProKit that would bring the car down about an inch without really hurting ride quality (moving to 20" wheels would be a more noticeable change IMO) Just changing the wheels may not get you the look you have in mind.

Thank you for the reply. That is what I was thinking as well. Was concerned about the drive change moving up to 20.

20" alloy wheels will look wicked but low profile tyres great in a well maintained area but if you live in a pot-holed area like Aberdeenshire pot holes will damage both tyre and rim unless you run higher pressures but that gives a harsh ride and poor tyre wear and very much defeat the advantage of low profile tyres.
