I have recently purchased a 2000 A4 Turbo Quattro and am experiencing some problems with the way it handles on anything other than perfectly true surfaces.I traded a 98 TQ so I know how they should handle but this car is all over the road!
I have had it back to the Audi dealer and have been told the problem is fixed but having just been away on country roads for 3 days I have some news for them!!This car was a demo and has 17" wheels and Pirelli p6000 tyres 9" width. When I purchase it had done around 6000Km's and its now up to 10000.
Problems include;
1)tracking mainly to right and constant need to correct line.
2)wandering across surface of road on anything other than "new" or dead flat tarmac.
3)pulling left or right at competion of braking on anything but dead flat surface.
Has anyone experienced this or have any knowledge of the above problems?
I have had wheel alignments from both Audi and independent wheel alignment centre and apparently all seems fine???
First time to your forum so appologies for lack of protocol....

Are any of your arms bent?
I have considerable brake steer on uneven surfaces too. However, this was after a couple of changes to my car.
1) 18*8.5 wheels
2) Lowering my car
3) Bending wheel house bearing on the right rear
Changes 1 & 2:
I was told by a mechanic that brake steer can become exagerated with wider tires. My friend's Civic did the same things (He had low pro's on 17's and slammed his car with a camber kit). His brake steer was gone after the inside of his tires weared down. After having my tires (Yoko Paradas) for 6 months now, I have noticed that my brake steer has been reduced too. I've noticed increased wear on my front tires versus my rear tires, since we can't adjust camber.
Changes 3:
I would check your alignment. I align my cars with my mechanics and that's how I found out that I bent one of my arms. My camber on the right rear is still within spec but it is more negative than the left side. I have the alignment bolt turned all the way to the inside. Therefore, I expect my car to steer to the right, which it does (even though my car is aligned within specifications). Once I have the extra cash or my tires wear down, I'll repair my bent arm.

Re: handling probs with 2000 A4
I have experienced the same kind of probems on an 97 A4 Quattro. Directional stability is poor. The car is very sensitive to cross winds and needs a lot of attantion to keep it going straight. The suspension feels too soft.
I had the dealer check the suspension. He said that everything looks fine. I paid about $150 for an alignment but this did not fix the problem.
