Default HRE wheels

I know that a lot of people here on AudiWorld have put HRE wheels on their Audi vehicles. How is the all around quality of HRE wheels versus other aftermarket wheels out there? I know that HRE wheels are, at the very least, one of the ten most expensive aftermarket wheel brands on the market.

Default You'll get varying opinions on that.

Some have had good experiences with the sales and support staff and generally have never had problems.

Others will say that their wheels are substandard and reference that they have been banned by certain race groups due to several track incidences.

Other things you'll here are about the fact that rain water can get trapped in the barrels at high speed and cause the wheel to wobble as if its out of balance. I can tell you this is not a problem only with HRE but any wheels that uses a reverse lip design. It is caused by the way the barrel is constructed in order to produce the reverse lip. There is a little channel in there that traps water and the weight of the trapped water will make your wheel temporarily out of balance. Once you stop the water drains out and then you're fine. It has happened to me less than a handful of times over the 3 years I've had my wheels.

Default When it comes to wheels...

You usually get what you pay for.
Forged wheels are more expensive, but stronger
