These have an offset of 35. Tires are 245/40.

I would like to lower it a couple of inches to close the wheel gap a bit.

I would like a cost effective option.

With ET35, I'd say you're OK with a drop of 1.5" at most. You may want to stay in the low 40's if you want to drop 2" or more

Thanks! Would I accomplish this by lowering springs or do they have to be coilovers?

A mild lowering spring (Eibach Pro Kit) will help minimize change in comfort, where most coilover kits use a more aggressive spring rate (designed for track use) that would be a pretty rough ride for a daily driver
