need to get new tires
 

I just took my car in for the 25k mile service and inspection, and I need new tires. The stock tires I had were the Pirelli P6 all seasons.

The tires I'm looking at now are:

Pirelli PZero Nero M+S ($144 per)
Goodyear Eagle GT-HR ($119 per)

the prices I listed there are from Tirerack.com

does anyone have thoughts on these two tires or recommendations on others? I do want to get a set of all seasons since i dont want to pay for seasonal sets with the vastly different weather in PA.

The Nero M+S are not so good in the snow from all I've read and heard.

one more thing...how about tire sizes?
 

i have everything completely stock on my 2.0T B7 A4 (17's).

They are fine in light snow and for an all-season great in everything else.
 

I was really impressed at how well-rounded these tires were when I had them. I'll always be a proponent of dedicated summers and winters, but for a time these fit the bill for me and performed admirably. I'd recommend them to anyone needing an all-season solution.

I ran the P-Zero Nero M&S last spring & summer on my B6 Avant and thought they were great.
 

I sold the car late last summer so I didn't have a chance to test them in snow or slush but really liked them.

I'd stick with the OEM size
 

If you had a second set of rims for winter, you could pick a smaller tire size, but otherwise, I'd stay with your stock size, which is 235/45 if I'm not mistaken.

What size were you thinking of running? If you run a narrower tire (better for snow), the tire will look stretched and will offer no curb rash protection to the rim.

And if you run a wider tire, it won't be optimal for winter. Besides, your rims may not be wide enough to support it.
