Newbie need advice on B7 A4 summer tires
Hi all,
My OEM all seasons are wore out, and I'm looking for replace them with a set of 235/45/R17 or 245/45/R17 (assuming the later won't rub the fenders). I've tried searching on the forums but there's just too many threads and I can't quite figure out which tires fits my budget and needs. I also searched on TR and looked at the numbers, but it seems the numbers don't match with people's real world experiences as indicated on this forum.
Basically, I'm looking for something with the following criteria:
1) <$125 per tire.
2) Good wet traction and hydroplane resistance.
3) Tough, with good wear ratings. Something that doesn't bubble easily.
4) Preferablly bi-directional, though not a requirement.
Which tires will fit my criteria? And how do they rate in terms of ride comfort/noise?
Thanks in advance!

Although wear on summer tires isn't great, my top two pics at your price point for maximum wet traction and great dry grip, cornering/handling would be the Sumitomo HTRZ3 and Yokohama S Drive.

Thanks Gary! I'll definitely give those two tires a look. I see that the Yokohama SDrive is 245/45, how much will that affect the odometer compare to stock tires? Also, I have a separate set of winter and summery tires, but would like to find a spare tire that can be used in conjunction with either set in case of emergency (just far enough to carry me to the repair center).

Hit post by mistake on the last reply. The question is, what would you recommend for a spare that can work with either the summer or winter tire setup for my car, in case of emergency only? Is such thing even possible?
